Across 8 chapters and 80 original questions, the storyteller is invited to reconstruct the place that shaped them through its homes, streets, schools, workplaces, local characters, friendships, businesses, traditions, routines and community life.
But this is not simply nostalgia.
The experience also explores change.
What disappeared? What improved? Who arrived? Who left? Which attitudes changed? What did different generations understand differently? When did the definition of a “local” begin to change?
The Local Story creates space to explore encounters between established communities and newcomers without telling the storyteller what they should think.
Migration, cultural change and diversity may become part of the story where relevant, but they are only part of a much larger question:
What makes somewhere home, and who gets to belong there?
The storyteller may discover that being local means birthplace. Or family history. Or knowing the streets. Or contributing to a community. Or choosing somewhere and staying long enough for it to become part of you.
There is no predetermined answer.
The final chapters look toward what deserves to survive.
The people worth remembering. The stories newcomers may never hear. The traditions worth protecting. The mistakes worth acknowledging. The changes worth welcoming.
And the things a future generation should know about the place that existed before theirs.
The storyteller can answer, edit, skip and keep responses private. They can add photographs, save their progress, create a backup and return whenever they choose.
When ready, their memories can become a personal digital storybook that can be saved or printed as a PDF.
